Trump Endorses Johnson for Speaker Role

In 2024, numerous stories captured the attention of journalists. However, CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford pointed out that one of the most overlooked stories was the concern regarding President Joe Biden’s age and cognitive abilities, as reported by Fox News.

Crawford, on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” described Biden’s cognitive decline as “undeniable” following a televised debate. She noted that several reports from various sources indicated that even some of Biden’s close advisers had been worried about his health since he assumed office. Despite this, the White House consistently dismissed questions about his mental sharpness, even with video evidence showing Biden appearing confused.

Crawford further commented that Biden’s advisers had reportedly managed his limitations for years, as noted by the Wall Street Journal. She felt the media should have more rigorously challenged Biden’s fitness for another term, suggesting that such scrutiny might have prompted a Democratic primary, potentially altering the election’s landscape.

She criticized the narrative in The Washington Post where Biden’s advisers allegedly expressed regret over his decision to leave the presidential race, claiming he believed he could have defeated Donald Trump. Crawford described these statements as either “delusional” or an attempt at “gaslighting” by his advisers.

Biden’s performance in a June debate against Donald Trump was pivotal, where he admitted to feeling unwell, suspecting it might be due to a virus or a severe cold, though tests showed otherwise. This debate led to his decision to exit the race on July 21. Despite these events and the evident challenges, including funding issues and pressure from fellow Democrats to drop out, a Fox News report indicated Biden still believed he could have won against Trump.
