The Sham Omnibus Bill: A Desperate Democratic Cover-Up of the Jan. 6 Committee’s Malfeasance

The Democrats, in their never-ending quest to protect their own, tried to pull a fast one with the now-scrapped omnibus spending bill under House Speaker Mike Johnson. This colossal piece of legislative garbage was meant to fund the government through March 2025 but included a sneaky little provision that would have shielded the corrupt, now-defunct Jan. 6 Select Committee from any real scrutiny or legal repercussions.

It’s clear as day why Democrats were so desperate to include this in the bill; they’re running scared from the mountain of evidence showing how they manipulated, destroyed, and suppressed facts to frame President Donald Trump for the Capitol riot. The interim report from House Republicans, which came out this week, is nothing short of a bombshell. It paints a picture of a committee more interested in spinning lies than uncovering truths about January 6.

This report, which my colleague Tristan Justice has covered, reveals the committee obliterated over a terabyte of digital evidence, including vital video testimonies, leaving Republican investigators with nothing but dead ends. Over 100 encrypted files? Passwords? Forget it. The Democrats had no intention of letting the truth see the light of day.

And let’s not forget Liz Cheney, playing her part in this charade, conspiring with “star witness” Cassidy Hutchinson via the Signal app to dodge her lawyer, only for Cheney to later push for his disbarment. The audacity! This led House Republicans to rightly recommend a criminal investigation into Cheney for witness tampering.

The report also exposes how the Department of Defense blatantly ignored Trump’s orders for National Guard support on January 6, then lied about their response. Instead of securing the Capitol, they were more concerned with optics, leading to chaos and tragedy.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk didn’t mince words, pointing out the “intelligence, security, and leadership failures” were covered up by political maneuvering and a narrative designed to blame Trump, not to protect the Capitol. Despite Trump’s attempt to deploy 10,000 National Guard troops, which was rebuffed by Democratic leaders, even his own Defense Secretary dismissed his orders, leading to delayed responses and misinformation from Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy.

This all ties back to last month’s revelations by Loudermilk about the DoD’s own inspector general report, which conveniently left out crucial details about delayed National Guard deployment.

And then there’s the FBI, whose own inspector general report showed they had informants in the crowd, some even entering the Capitol with FBI funding. Yet, no explanation has been given for why they didn’t perform standard security checks around the Capitol, a glaring omission that Paul Abbate of the FBI called a “basic step that was missed.”

Not a single person in this debacle has faced consequences because the Democrats’ Select Committee was all about hiding the truth. We need transparency, not more political theater. The American public deserves to know the full extent of what happened on January 6, not the twisted narrative the Democrats have been pushing. Every piece of hidden, destroyed, or suppressed evidence must be brought to light. The games must end, and accountability must begin.
