Russian Drone Attacks on Ukraine Decrease to Lowest in Months
In a recent update, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Russia has deployed the smallest number of drones in months, with more than 370 strike drones targeting Ukraine over the past week. This figure represents a significant drop compared to the average of 500-600 drones per week that Zelenskyy has been documenting since September.
Zelenskyy, in a statement on his official Facebook page, highlighted the ongoing aggression, stating, “Our cities and communities are under constant Russian shelling. Even on Christmas night, the terrorists staged a massive air attack.” He detailed that, alongside the drones, Russia also launched approximately 280 guided aerial bombs and 80 missiles of various types during this period.
This week’s tally of 370 drones is notably the lowest since Zelenskyy began his weekly reports three months ago, reflecting a potential shift in Russian military strategy or resources. Despite the decrease in drone numbers, the Ukrainian President’s comments underscore the persistent threat to civilian areas from Russian forces.
The Ukrainian leadership continues to monitor and report on these attacks, providing insight into the intensity of the conflict and the scale of Russian military actions against Ukrainian targets. Zelenskyy’s regular updates serve not only to inform the public but also to maintain international awareness of the conflict’s impact on Ukraine’s infrastructure and civilian life.
